About Us
Young Miriam Hayes, a fierce and visionary mountain girl with a voice that cuts through the holler, boldly rescues her talented younger brother Mose from danger in the oppressive coal camps. With her loyal sister Erin, she forms a family string band rooted in old-time Appalachian traditions—clawhammer banjo, fiddle, high-lonesome harmonies, and foot-stomping rhythms infused with deep gospel faith.
Season 1: (“Out of Egypt”) follows their escape from poverty and dead-end mine life as they play church suppers, summer music festivals, and revivals, singing raw songs of hardship, deliverance, and God’s provision. Their bond is unbreakable; Miriam's prophetic-style testifying and leadership set them apart.
Season 2: (“Crossing Over”) charts their rise on the folk-revival circuit. A triumphant festival performance of "Timbrel & Fire"—echoing Miriam’s biblical “Song of the Sea”—launches them to sudden fame with recordings, radio play, and bigger stages. Yet temptations of compromise, industry pressure, and Mose’s growing distance strain the sibling trio.
Season 3: (“Wilderness Silence & Legacy”) brings the heartbreaking turning point: Miriam's bold demand for equal respect as co-founder erupts into confrontation. A devastating illness isolates her in a remote cabin, silencing her voice and forcing a season of humbled reflection, prayer, and dependence on God. Through intercession and grace, partial restoration comes, and Miriam's songs become the sustaining “wells” of faith and living water for her family and community. The series culminates in her quiet death and the bittersweet legacy that continues to nourish the next generation of Appalachian women.
